your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..."

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The Day We Left Our Homes is a project aimed at sharing the stories of refugees across the world and the reasons why they had the leave their homelands. Starting with my own family, I retell and illustrate the epic journey of their escape from South Vietnam in the last days of that tragic war and how they ended up in the United States. My aim is to share these tragic, heartbreaking, and amazing stories from people worldwide that are too often misunderstood and forgotten.

We welcome submissions of short stories or manuscripts that share how you or someone you know left their original homeland due to war or other tragic circumstances. The story should focus on the last few days they were there and the events that led up to the final day they last saw their homes.
