The Day We
LEFT OUR HOMES
Stories of people escaping their homelands due to extraordinary circumstances
April 30, 1975
South Vietnam
In the days right before the Fall of Saigon, families in South Vietnam faced difficult times of desperation and uncertainty. The Vietnam War still serves as a painful reminder to many Vietnamese-Americans today, many of whom were forced to flee from their homes as South Vietnam fell to Communists on April 30, 1975.
As this generation grows older, I wanted to collect and share their stories. Here are their recollections of escape and survival.
